Comments Off on How to 360 on a Wakeboard – Tutorial

This is a concise tutorial on how to do a 360 on a wakeboard behind the boat.

You need to be able to do the fundamentals which include:

1. Wake To Wake
2. Heelside 180
3. Surface 360.

Then it’s time to give the trick an attempt. Here’s a step by step guide:

1. Cut out nice and wide.
2. Use the progressive edge to cut back towards the wake.
3. Get your pop first, then initiate the spin.
4. To spin, pull you back hip up to the handle (with two hands).
5. Reach around for the handle.
6. Look back to the shore you came from and bend your knees. Details

Comments Off on Small Wake – what is possible? Wakeboarding Challenge

We all know I LOVE a big wake! I’ve been lucky enough to spend the last 5 years riding lots of Centurion Ri237s, Ri230 and lots of the Fi range too.

However, every now and then (when I’m home in Ireland), I ride this little small Glastron 205 GT. It’s got a V6 Volvo Penta engine and a tiny Pylon.

In this video, I decided to push myself and see just how much I can do on a tiny wake.

The goal was to do a whirly 5, but some of the basic mobes would be great too, not to mention maybe a big spin? Details

Comments Off on How to Frontroll on a Wakeboard – the secret to not butt-checking!

So, this isn’t necessarily the 4th flip you should learn – it might be the 15th or the first, but hopefully this tutorial helps you learn the toeside front roll.

A big thing to pay attention to is the piece about looking at the far shore. So many people under flip these and so that should help massively!

Comments Off on Wakeboarding – Tantrum Tutorial

Welcome back to another basic invert tutorial. Today we’re learning one of the most popular out there – the Tantrum!

The Tantrum is a heelside back summersault. It’s not easy, however, if you have learnt every step along the way so far, then this should be okay and safe to learn!

Unfortunately you can’t really learn it one wake, and so your best option is to maybe just slow the boat down a little and shorten your rope 5ft.

Hopefully this video helps, and good luck! Details

Comments Off on How to Backroll on a Wakeboard – Step by Step

This week we’re finally learning how to flip on a wakeboard! For many of us, this is so scary, however, there are two secrets to making it easier and less intimidating:

1. Know your basics – if you’ve followed the series you’ll be well able for it.

2. Learn it step by step, doing it 1 wake first. Details

Comments Off on First Flip/Invert to Learn on a Wakeboard

So often I get asked – what’s the easiest flip to learn on a wakeboard? The answer isn’t as simple as saying a backroll or a tantrum, it really depends on the rider. In this video I break down the 4 easiest flips: 1. Backroll 2. Toeside backroll. 3. Tantrum 4. Toeside Frontroll. On top of that, I discuss why some inverts are easier for some people than others. I hope you find this video helpful, and stay tuned for more specific tutorials. Thanks for watching. David Details

Toeside is one of the hardest tricks/things to do on a wakeboard. Even pro wakeboaders sometimes find it difficult!

1. Put shoulders parallel to wake.
2. Bring hip to handle.
3. Extra weight on front foot.
4. Lean on toes.
5. Push down on the handle, and stand tall at the wake.

I hope you learn from this tutorial, and thanks for watching.

Comments Off on What is Wakeboarding? | Zero To Hero | New Series | Wakeboarding 101

I am delighted to finally get this new series underway. It’s something I have wanted to create for a number of years now, but never put the time or effort into. It’s called Zero To Hero and the concept is to have a documented step by step process of how to wakeboard. From never seeing it, all the way to inverts and spins. It’s essentially my wakeboarding masterclass! New videos will be dropping every Tuesday and Friday and all the videos will be in order. So as we begin the wake season, please join the learning process. I’m excited to see how quickly people can progress. Here’s an idea of some of the tutorials we will see this summer – getting up – crossing the wake – wake jumps – progressive edge – 180s – flips – spins and much much more. Details

Comments Off on Wakeboarding – Learning to go big!

Tim is used to riding small wakes like his 15ft rib, and whilst this wake isn’t a wake boat like a Centurion, it still has a medium sized wake. Tim learnt how to approach the wake, how to take off, and most importantly the timing of standing tall combined with the progressive edge. Details
