2013 Irish Wakeboard Nationals

Hey everyone,
I’m just back from an awesome weekend in Cork where the 2013 Irish Wakeboard Nationals took place. It was a bit of a different event for most of us as there was Wakeboarding, Wakeskating and Wakesurfing which worked out really welll!
It was a really outstanding Championships, with lots of new people, flat water, BBQs – and sunshine believe it or not!!
It was great to watch all the youngsters step up their game and start hitting wake to wakes and doing more 180 variations. In the Open Men’s division, the level had stepped up with all 6 finalists being current, or past Irish team riders! Everyone threw down some of their best rides bringing the level so high! In the end, DC (David Coates) took 3rd, Peter Stewart 2nd and I took 1st which I was delighted with as it was far from an easy battle!
Ci Naji’s family also donated a really nice Perpetual Trophy in her honour and big congrats to Aisling Deegan who won it. Ci would have been thrilled.
Thanks so much to Cork Powerboat & Waterski Club and the Galvins for hosting an unreal Nationals! It was such a fun event that had a really great buzz going the whole time – even a band on the Saturday! Thanks too to Des Burke-Kennedy for the brilliant photos!
